Landscaper’s Choice for Decoration

Ficus Black is the first choice of a landscaper as they are leafy and short to be designed into exotic shapes and sizes to fit into a kitchen garden or a big lawn. They are best for large spaces in a corporate setup, lawns, gardens, hotels etc as they need less water and moderate sunlight to grow more leafy and beautiful.

Finicky Plant to Maintain Indoors

The plant needs filtered and indirect bright light to grow but is very sensitive to cold seasons. It needs above 60 F to 70 F to grow into lush green meadow and needs to be safeguarded from cold drafts from windows and outside cold weather. It also needs good amount of humidity when grown indoors but the roots should not be soggy. It makes them a finicky plant by nature which needs to be taken care off in a very methodical way. While watering it needs to be felt whether the soil is wet or dry. If the soil is wet, the plant need not be watered and if the soil is dry then it needs to be watered.

Issues in Maintaining

The Ficus Black plant is a finicky plant and does give some heartache to its caretakers. It starts to shed its leaves if not taken care of well. The plant feels the stress in the following conditions:

  1. Low humidity
  2. Too much of Light
  3. Under or Over Watering
  4. Cold Drafts
  5. Change of place
  6. Pests
  7. Extreme Temperatures

Once these steps are followed the plant grows well and once growing well it needs trimming or pruning to keep in it shape. The best time to prune or trim the plant is in the winter season when it is not growing at is best. It is less susceptible to any injury in the winter season.

Infested Ficus Black

Ficus Black is majorly prone to infestation form mealybugs, scale and spider mites and can be treated with the natural repellent called neem oil to keep away the pest from the plant. Though Ficus Black is finicky and needs utmost care yet it is a beauty to be looked at with the eyes of a nature lover.
