Long weekends, lazy holidays and the thought of enjoying some R&R with the family, aren’t that the stuff dreams are made of? After all, boxy cubicles, cramped elevators, annoying colleagues and overwhelming bosses are the perfect recipe for a nightmare, they hardly fall in the category of sweet dreams one expects from a perfectly normal, sane person, isn’t it?

Hence, you see, our endeavour to walk down paths less taken and discover new places for you assumes more importance than ever before. After all, who better than us can understand the importance of quiet R&R time and the significance of enjoying peace in tumultuous times…As always, these have essentially been the cornerstones of our existence at Ananda Habitat and we’re proud of it!

The grass is always greener here!

There’s a deeper meaning to why we considered introducing aromatic/ medicinal green foliage, fully landscaped parks, floral beds and a dedicated separate land allotment for a school/ kalyanamandapam, water harvesting and expansively spaced out amenity features in our Habitat—it is so that you, our inhabitant, can experience the best of everything that nature has to offer.

In addition, when you consider the fact that Ananda Habitat- an 18 acre, 100% legal, clear title, DTCP approved, secured gated community plotting project has deliberately been organically preserved to retain its native ecology and habitation, one is assured that Ananda Habitat does indeed breathe life into investments.

Besides, when you consider that our project is positioned in the heart of Oragadam, a location that is touted as ‘Chennai’s industrial growth corridor’ and the ‘biggest automobile hub of South Asia’, one is assured of a green fortune just around the corner.

For those in the know, Oragadam’s location between the 2 National Highways & 3 State Highways and the convenience of accessibility to the industrial belt of Sriperumbudur makes this one of the most sought after locales in Chennai. What’s more, the Chennai Airport, harbour, Chennai Central, the proposed rail link from Avadi to Guduvanchery via Oragadam, rail-auto hub, six-laning expansion of the OMR highway, the MRTS rail project, the Chennai Monorail project, upcoming Greenfield airport and the Aerospace Park work to augment Oragadam’s position as an expedient area on Chennai’s map.

My way or the highway

On our quest for the next place to see, we ended up circling a somewhat offbeat destination that is about 6 hrs from Chennai. We’re headed to the temple town of Kumbakonam, for which we took the NH32 highway, though one can also take the NH36.

The sight of a plethora of gopurams should tell you that you’ve reached the destination as it is thought that there are near about 188 temples in Kumbakonam itself, besides this there are 11 divya desams and over 100 temples that are in and around Kumbakonam. Known for the renowned Mahamaham festival, held once every 12 years, Kumbakonam was prominent historically during the supremacy of the Cholas. In fact, the ancient Shiva temple- Kumbeswara, was built sometime in the 7th century by them.

An old-world charm surrounds the place and the presence of the two main water bodies- Kaveri on the north and Arasalar to the south, only add to the beauty of this small town. Nonetheless, the town is famous for its temples and justly so, as it is unthinkable not to mention the many famous ones such as the Ramaswamy temple, which is especially noteworthy for the elaborate statuettes on the pillars besides which the Ramayana is also wall painted. Another fine example of a temple worth paying obeisance at is the Sarangapani temple, which was constructed during the sovereignty of the Nayak kings. A 12 storey, 147 feet high temple, it is thought that the structure was built sometime in the 15th century.

Aside from many other temples such as the uppiliappan koil, kann kodutha Vanitham, chakarapani, nageswarer and Adi Kumbeshwara, Kumbakonam is on every devotees must visit list as there are ancient Navagraha temples going back to the Chola reign that are worth bowing heads and paying obeisance in.
